The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Goedert have had an interesting last couple of months after winning Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, as the team were shopping Goedert in a mutual decision as Goedert didn’t want to play on the current deal that he was on and the team might have wanted to go younger at the Tight End position. But on Wednesday, the Eagles and Dallas Goedert reached an agreement on a restructured contract for the 2025 season. This is great news for the Eagles and especially Goedert because the relationship stays intact for a little while longer.

Goedert Can Still Be Productive When Healthy

Goedert did have a down year for the Eagles in their Super Bowl season, had 42 catches for 496 yards and two scores in 10 games played in the regular season of 2024. He led the team in receptions (17) and receiving yards (215) in the actual Super Bowl run in the Postseason. That showed that he can be productive in the right situation, and Jalen Hurts has trust in him in some crucial situations. Yes, Goedert has his injury issues and is getting older, so this might be a risky contract for the Eagles at $10M with the chance of an additional million in incentives, because he can get injured again.

But this was a great deal for both sides as the Eagles are going to maybe have him as a potential trade option at the deadline if need be, but if no trade comes to fruition, you get one of the top tight ends of the league on a team friendly deal for your chance to repeat as Super Bowl champions.

Final Thoughts

Dallas Goedert is still a productive tight end for the Eagles and will be for at least the 2025 season now with this restructure, and will have the opportunity to go for the repeat with the rest of his teammates in Philadelphia. He will be motivated in essentially a contract year to stay healthy and have great numbers, and we will see what happens throughout the 2025 season for him and the Eagles. Looking forward to seeing the former South Dakota State product once again make his impact on the Eagles.
