Dalton Schultz OUT vs. Broncos
Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

HOUSTON — Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz will miss Sunday's AFC battle against the Denver Broncos at NRG Stadium. Due to a hamstring injury. Schultz missed each practice leading up to Houston's Week 13 contest. He sustained the injury during the Texans' 24-21 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

After signing with the Texans as a free agent in March, Schultz has established himself as one of C.J. Stroud's top targets in the passing game. Schultz has recorded 40 catches for 455 yards and five touchdowns.

"It’s part of football," coach DeMeco Ryans said. "You lose guys – guys get injured all the time. We don’t focus on or harp on it. We feel for our brother who went down, but we still have to move forward. We still have to go and compete and play our best.”

With Schultz slated to be out, third-year tight end Brevin Jordan will have an opportunity to leave an impact on the Texans' offense.

Jordan has appeared in eight games this season, but a significant amount of his snaps have been on special teams. Through the first two seasons of Jordan's career, the former University of Miami prospect has caught 40 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns since 2021.

In addition to Schultz, the Texans will also be without tight end Teagan Quitoriano, who has been on injured reserve since October.

"With Dalton, it’s been great seeing him come alive in the passing game and really create some explosive plays for us there," Ryans said. "I’m very pleased with Dalton and the things he’s done.”
