Dan Skipper said what all Lions fans are thinking about neverending injuries

The Detroit Lions have to be put in rice or unplugged and plugged back in again with the way injuries keep piling up for them this offseason. Just when it seemed like their defense was back and sound - well, as sound as they could be without Malcolm Rodriguez and Alim McNeil - they lost Ennis Rakestraw, rookie Dan Jackson, and Levi Onwuzurike to the IR.

On offense, those pains are being just as felt. The O-line for the Lions has gotten some great news in the form of Taylor Decker ramping back up to action, but other linemen like Colby Sordsal, Justin Herron, and Trystan Colon have landed on the IR or out for the next few weeks.

Dan Skipper, a veteran lineman with the Lions, had some understandable frustration to share regarding these injuries, which just keep haunting Detroit's Super Bowl-potential air.

"I'm sitting there like a fan. It started early in the game, seeing a picture of Justin in an air cast. That doesn't happen in warm ups. So, it's just things like that that, you know, it's a constant reminder that, hopefully, whoever's got the Voodoo doll on us can just undo the pin. This is unbelievable," expressed Skipper to reporters on Tuesday.

Lions veteran says what all fans are thinking about team's injury luck

Once news of Herron's injury was reported before the Lions could even take a snap against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2 of the preseason, there was a palpable sense of "are you kidding me?" to be felt amongst the fanbase.

Getting hurt in training camp while going full send in scrimmages or drills is one thing - it's certainly within the realm of possibility to go down for the year in that sort of scenario (see: Rakestraw's season ending shoulder injury suffered in camp).

Getting hurt in warmups, though? It just doesn't sound real. The intent of them being to prevent injury, and then causing one to a key depth player, is absurd to hear about. Now, the Lions have to hope that the starting offensive line of Decker, Penei Sewell, Tate Ratledge, Graham Glasgow, and Christian Mahogany can stay relatively healthy.

Per team reporter Tim Twentyman, that starting line has looked excellent in camp so far. It'd be a shame to lose their strength in the trenches due to even more "freak" injuries early in the season, and an even bigger shame to see the Lions once again have to scramble to find depth with their second and third team options already out for the year at positions like tackle and guard.
