Time has flown by this offseason, as the Las Vegas Raiders are already closing in on returning to prepare for the 2025 season.
On April 8, the Raiders are set to return to Intermountain Health Performance Center for the official start of the offseason workout program.
Afterwards, the Raiders are set to hold voluntary minicamp from April 21-23. OTAs will take place throughout the month of May into the beginning of June. Finally, mandatory minicamp will take place on June 10-12, with the players released after that for a six-week break until training camp officially begins.
After players arrive on April 8, the first phase of offseason workouts begin with meetings, strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation. Anything else beyond that is off-limits until voluntary minicamp.
In the month between voluntary minicamp and OTAs, the draft and rookie minicamp will take place. This is where the second phase of the workouts start, resulting in more on-field instruction and walkthroughs with players and coaches.
OTA practices are the start of the third phase, where teams begin to participate in various drills. The Raiders can begin to conduct seven-on-seven, nine-on-nine and 11-on-11 drills at that time. The only thing they are not allowed to do in this phase is begin live contact.
Finally, the mandatory minicamp provides a simulation of training camp, giving players a taste of what is expected before giving them six weeks off prior to the start of training camp and the preseason.
For new head coach Pete Carroll and his staff, this is the first time most of them will get to see the Raiders roster up close. Even for returning coaches like defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, the changes on his side of the ball could result in a necessary shift in strategy. These next few months will give them a clear idea of what they are working with, as well as the areas the team needs to improve in.
The first look of the new Raiders is just a few days away, and they are looking to live up to expectations.
