Davante Adams Has Done Everything But Win It All

Davante Adams, entering his 13th NFL season, has had it all.

Worldwide fame, All-Pro and Pro Bowl selections, massive career earnings, and someday, perhaps, a Hall of Fame case.

One thing still eludes the Los Angeles Rams receiver as his career winds down: a Super Bowl ring, the finishing touch on an already decorated career.

Adams has reached the NFC Championship Game five times — four with the Green Bay Packers, once last season with the Rams — all ending in defeat. Nobody wants to help him capture the Lombardi Trophy more than his quarterback, Matthew Stafford.

Stafford had a similar résumé before leading the Rams to the Super Bowl title in 2021, a win that shifted his narrative from a strong-armed, talented quarterback to a champion with a spot in Canton waiting.

The pair developed a strong connection during their first season together under head coach Sean McVay. Stafford captured his first regular-season MVP award, completing 65 percent of his passes for a league-leading 4,707 yards and 46 touchdowns, with Adams contributing a league-high 14 touchdown catches of his own.

When the season ended in an NFC Championship Game loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, Stafford felt the need to apologize to Adams on the team plane.

"He's turning around, he's looking at me, like, 'I'm sorry, man, I wanted that for you so bad,'" Adams told the Los Angeles Times. "Not for him, but he wanted it for me."

The good news: Heading into Year 2, the Rams enter the season as favorites, boasting the NFL's most talented roster.

Stafford and Adams' connection looked even stronger in training camp, sharpened daily against a Rams defense that might be the league's best — bolstered by newcomers Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie.

If everyone stays healthy, the Rams have a strong shot at finally getting Adams that Super Bowl ring before his career clock runs out.
