Let’s cut through the noise here. If you’re banking on DeAndre Hopkins to save your fantasy season in 2025, you might want to pump the brakes and reconsider your draft strategy.

Still, Hopkins isn’t just any 33-year-old receiver; he’s a guy who’s been grinding in this league since 2013, absorbing hits and battling through injuries that would sideline lesser mortals. The man’s resume speaks for itself: five top-five fantasy finishes between 2015-2020, Hall of Fame trajectory, the whole nine yards. But here’s the thing that’ll make your stomach drop: those days are in the rearview mirror, and they’re getting smaller by the week.

Last season was brutal to watch if you’re a Hopkins believer. The dude couldn’t crack a 65% route share in any single week. Think about that for a second. A receiver who once commanded double teams and was the focal point of entire offensive game plans was essentially a part-time player, splitting duties between Tennessee and Kansas City.

Now Hopkins has landed with the Ravens, and while Lamar Jackson slinging him the rock sounds appetizing on paper, the reality is more complicated in Todd Monken’s scheme. This isn’t 2019 Hopkins we’re talking about, this is a veteran trying to squeeze whatever juice is left in those 33-year-old legs while competing in a loaded offensive ecosystem.

Rashod Bateman isn’t going anywhere. Zay Flowers is locked into that slot role and gets his targeted looks in this scheme. Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely are eating up targets from the tight end position. Do the math; there simply aren’t enough footballs to go around for Hopkins to return meaningful fantasy value on a consistent basis.

DeAndre Hopkins 2025 Fantasy Outlook

Here’s where it gets really ugly. Among 112 qualifying receivers last season, Hopkins ranked a pedestrian 52nd in separation and 36th in route win rate. For a guy who built his career on getting open and making contested catches, those numbers should have you reaching for the antacid.

His 9.2 fantasy points per game in 2024 landed him as the 60th-best receiver. Sixtieth! That’s waiver wire territory, folks. During Kansas City’s playoff run, you know, when games actually matter, Hopkins was practically invisible, playing less than 40% of snaps in all three playoff games and catching a combined three passes for 29 yards

The value is more from a real-life perspective rather than a fantasy impact. However, the veteran does offer contested-catch upside and can be a reliable red-zone target that may spike with multiple touchdown games a handful of times this year.
