FRISCO — The Dallas Cowboys pushed through mandatory minicamp last week with a perfect attendance. One would figure things settled down for the players after the slow grind to get through OTAs and ready for training camp next month.
But the week did not slow down for DeMarvion Overshown and his family last week. In fact, Overshown went into Father's Day weekend with the best celebration a father could ask for.
The Cowboys' linebacker and his fiancée, Alexis Babino, welcomed their second child to the world Friday afternoon. Overshown let his fans know the amazing news with an Instagram post on Father's Day.
"Couldn’t have asked for a better Father’s Day weekend! Another addition to the LEGACY has arrived," he captioned on the post.
His son, Texas Lee, is the second boy in his now family of four. Overshown did not reveal the origin of his youngest son's name, but shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given his deep roots growing up in the state and playing at the University of Texas at Austin.
He joins quarterback Dak Prescott among the Cowboys who have welcomed children during the offseason. Prescott's daughter, Aurora Rayne, came a few weeks earlier on May 22.
It's another exciting moment for Overshown who has enjoyed the last few months. His offseason started with the announcement of a jersey number change he's so desperately yearned for since joining the Cowboys now donning the first No. 0 in franchise history.
Amid all the excitement of the offseason, Overshown and his fans are hoping to see him back on the field at some point during the 2025 season. A serious knee injury ended his 2024 campaign early, leaving his status for the coming months up in the air.
For now Overshown and his family will enjoy this wonderful blessing.
