Less than two weeks after his death, Colts owner Jim Irsay was laid to rest on Monday in the city he called home for much of his adult life.

Irsay died in his sleep last month at the age of 65 after presiding over one of the NFL's most iconic franchises for nearly 30 years.

"We are devastated to announce our beloved Owner & CEO, Jim Irsay, passed away peacefully in his sleep this afternoon," the team said in a statement on May 21. "Jim's dedication and passion for the Indianapolis Colts in addition to his generosity, commitment to the community, and most importantly, his love for his family were unsurpassed."

According to the Indianapolis Star, Irsay's service lasted two hours and featured 10 guest speakers who remembered his life — which mostly centered around his beloved team and family.

Some of the funeral attendees reportedly included former Colts head coaches Tony Dungy, Jim Caldwell, Chuck Pagano, Frank Reich and current HC Shane Steichen. As well as general managers Bill Polian, Ryan Grigson, and Chris Ballard.

The service also included a performance by Indiana-born singer-songwriter John Mellencamp, who played his 1983 hit "Pink Houses" at the request of Irsay before he passed.

"He asked for this song to be played," Mellencamp shared. Saying before he exited, "As we all go on, think of Jimmy from time to time and what he did for this community. And let's hope his dreams come true."

Irsay certainly did a lot for the city of Indianapolis. And while he had his flaws (like we all do), his love for Indy both on and off-the-field could not be questioned.

His three daughters will reportedly succeed him as the Colts co-owners after growing up in football — much like Irsay himself did. May Jim rest in peace.
