Detroit Lions Rookie WR Isaac TeSlaa Dynasty Outlook

Isaac TeSlaa was one of the more interesting selections in the 2025 NFL Draft. A projected Day 3 pick, TeSlaa was drafted in the third round by the Detroit Lions after they traded up and gave up two future third-round picks to take TeSlaa. They basically used three third-round picks on TeSlaa and got two six-round picks back as well. However, Lions general manager Brad Holmes said this was his favorite draft pick of the entire Draft, so the Lions must think he was worth the steep price. How does he fit into the Lions offense, and what is Isaac TeSlaa’s dynasty outlook?

Dynasty Outlook for Isaac TeSlaa

Current Production

TeSlaa started his career in Division II at Hillsdale College. After three seasons, he transferred to the University of Arkansas to play his final two years. In his two years combined at Arkansas, he had 62 receptions for 896 receiving yards and five touchdowns. This is not a lot of production for a player who was drafted in the third round.

Two things make him great and are the reason why the Lions selected him on Day 2 of the Draft. The first is that he had zero drops in 2024 and is great at making contested catches. Secondly, he had the highest NextGenStats Athletic Score among all draft-eligible wide receivers, with a score of 96. The Lions got themselves an athletic player who can catch the football, even with limited collegiate production.

TeSlaa Dynasty Price

According to KeepTradeCut, a website that crowdsources dynasty values from players who use the site, TeSlaa is the WR80. He is ranked behind Christian Kirk, Dontayvion Wicks, and Troy Franklin, while ranked ahead of Demario Douglas, Alec Pierce, and Tory Horton. He is being drafted at the end of the third round of rookie dynasty drafts, or he is going undrafted.

TeSlaa Dynasty Outlook

The Lions chose TeSlaa because of talent and athleticism over production. However, there is not much room for opportunity in the Lions’ offense. Amon-Ra St. Brown has three straight seasons of at least 140 targets and 105 receptions. The coaching staff is high on Jameson Williams entering the 2025 season, and they picked up his club option for 2026. Tight end Sam LaPorta is a great tight end as well. Both Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery can catch the ball out of the backfield. I am not sure where the targets will be for TeSlaa.

Since the Lions used three third-round picks to select TeSlaa, they need to prove that they made the right decision, so they will have to keep TeSlaa involved with the team. However, maybe he becomes their main kick and punt returner, and that is most of his usage for the first few years.

Should You Draft Isaac TeSlaa in Dynasty Leagues?

TeSlaa is such an interesting rookie wide receiver. He is very talented but does not have the college production to prove it, and is in a crowded situation with the Lions. With all that being said, I am taking a chance on him in dynasty leagues. If he goes undrafted, I am willing to put a few FAAB on him to add him to my taxi squad and see if he works out. However, Seahawks rookie Tory Horton is my top priority and would pick/add Horton over TeSlaa first. TeSlaa is the most athletic wide receiver in this draft class, giving him an encouraging dynasty outlook.
