Devonta Smith had a slightly down year last year as he had injuries for the first time in his Eagles career, as he had never missed a game due to injury before this season, but the concussion in Week 3 against the Saints cost him to miss the Week 4 game against Tampa Bay. But once again, he proved that he can be a solid WR2 in fantasy football as he still has productive numbers, but I believe 2025 is the year he bounces back to the fringe back-end WR1 numbers. Here’s Slim Reaper’s 2025 Redraft Outlook for the upcoming fantasy football season.
Smith’s fantasy production in 2024 was a slight dip because of injury, as mentioned in the intro, plus the Eagles’ shift to the running game, primarily with the Superstar Saquon Barkley being in the mix with the 2000-yard season that he had. He had 68 receptions for 833 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns in 2024 for 199.4 fantasy points on ESPN fantasy.
Smith had enough production to be ahead of guys like DK Metcalf, Marvin Harrison Jr, George Pickens, and Jaylen Waddle as the Eagles’ WR2 in a pass offense that finished in the bottom half of the league in passing last season. Smith on DraftKings averaged 15.8 FPPG in 2024, which is a pretty good margin for DFS for the position. Smith is still one of those guys who can make impact plays and have Elite games of fantasy production, so let’s look at Smith’s 2025 projections.
ESPN has Smith as the 57th-ranked player (WR25) in their PPR Projections for the 2025 season, with the following stat line projection: 88 receptions for 997 yards and six touchdowns for a Fantasy Points projection of 222.73. Meanwhile, Fantasy Pros is projecting the Slim Reaper to have 77.7 receptions, 922.2 receiving yards, and 7.1 touchdowns for a Fantasy Points projection of 134.5 points in their simulations.
Smith has the potential to have even better numbers than the projections if Kevin Patullo’s offense leans towards the pass a little bit more, as Jalen Hurts is going to continue his improvements in his mechanics from last season, so he and AJ Brown are going to feast if the numbers in the passing game improve from last season.
If you can get the Smith of 2022 and 2023, you’ll have a steal of a play in fantasy football overall. If you can get him at the right value, he is a great play in redraft leagues as well as DFS for the whole season. If the Eagles make the postseason, look for Smith to be an even better play for DFS for the playoffs, as he is the Eagles’ franchise leader in postseason receiving yards already in his career. Look for Skinny Batman to have huge numbers in 2025 if the health is there for him, like it has been in the past before 2024.
