Former Miami Dolphins All-Pro safety Louis Oliver celebrates his 60th birthday today! He was born March 9, 1966.

A first-round draft pick of the Miami Dolphins in the 1989 NFL Draft out of Florida, Louis Oliver spent seven years of his 8-year NFL career in South Florida. At 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, Oliver was a hard-hitting safety with great ball skills.

A member of the Dolphins from 1989 through 1993 and then again in 1995 and 1996, Oliver missed just seven games in seven total seasons with the team. After recording four interceptions as a rookie in 1989 and earning NFL All-Rookie Team honors, Oliver finished with five picks in each of the next three seasons with the team.

In 1992, he earned second-team All-Pro honors after recording 90 solo tackles, five interceptions and a team-record 103-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 37-10 rout of the Buffalo Bills. Oliver recorded three interceptions in the contest as the Dolphins went on to win the AFC East.

In addition to his seven years with the Dolphins, Oliver spent the 1994 season with the Cincinnati Bengals. For Miami, Oliver recorded nearly 500 tackles, 24 interceptions, three forced fumbles and eight fumble recoveries, including an NFL-leading five in his final season of 1996. Oliver also had an interception return for a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts in 1993.

Oliver is tied for seventh in Dolphins history in interceptions and sixth in interception returns for touchdowns. His 569 interception return yards for Miami ranks second behind only Dick Anderson.
