Dolphins Claim DT James Ester Off Waivers
The Miami Dolphins claimed DT James Ester off Waivers today. He was recently with the Green Bay Packers.
Easter is 24 years old and has never played in an NFL game before.
At Northern Illinois, he started 43 games over five seasons.
In college over five seasons, he totaled 121 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 blocked kick.
Before the 2025 season, he signed a futures deal with the Packers and spent all of 2025 on the practice squad.
Earlier this offseason, the Packers signed Ester to another futures deal before letting him go.

Obviously, with Miami’s ties to the Packers organization, it’s not surprising that they put in a claim on Ester.
He will come into the OTAs and training camp knowing the defensive scheme Jeff Hafley will want to run in Miami, and he will have a chance to compete against many first- and second-year defensive linemen on the Dolphins’ roster.
