It was 33 to 8. The Miami Dolphins were soundly defeated on Sunday in Indianapolis at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts in just about every possible way. The turnover battle, time of possession, situational football, you name it. Miami seemed to get the memo late that they had a game to play today, which is a brutal gut punch for a team that aspired to start fast and buck some of the narratives of their football team from a year ago.

No dice.

Instead, head coach Mike McDaniel's team stumbled through an anemic offensive performance and had no answers for Daniel Jones at quarterback on the other side. Saying it was a rough day would be an understatement. And one of Miami's greatest players wasn't shy about his thoughts on the performance after the game. Pro Football Hall of Famer and Miami Dolphins legend Larry Csonka perfectly summarized Miami's Week 1 performance in just three words.

Unprepared. Uninspired. Unacceptable.

If these were your bullet points for a team playing for a coach who is on the hot seat in Week 1, you'd probably be feeling pretty bad about the outlook of things. To be fair to the Dolphins, this is one game in 17 on the schedule. It could simply be a bump in the road. But for a team with concerns about player culture and the direction of the organization, this kind of performance is the absolute worst-case scenario.

How will Miami respond from here if the opening performance after an offseason of messaging is already falling into this range on the spectrum? We'll find out soon enough.

Miami plays the Patriots for its home opener next Sunday before a short week trip to Buffalo to play the Bills. And if Miami proves uninspired and unprepared for those two contests as well, it may well be not only Hall of Famers like Csonka who are going public with their disdain for the state of affairs. Although if those higher up in the organization, such as owner Stephen Ross, decide to take their displeasure forward, it will come with much more serious ramifications than some postgame tweets.
