The 2024 NFL Draft is approaching in about a month, meaning teams are in the final phase of evaluating which rookies they want to bring on board for the upcoming season.

The Miami Dolphins are no exception. While they have made some low-profile signings, the South Florida team still has an opportunity to secure a top-tier player in the draft.

Holding the No. 13 overall pick, the Dolphins are in a solid position to select one of this year’s most promising prospects.

Miami has several areas to strengthen, including the offensive line, defensive line and secondary.

CBS Sports' Kyle Stackpole predicts that the Dolphins will focus on defense in the first round of the draft.

In his latest mock draft, Stackpole projects that Miami will choose Michigan cornerback Will Johnson with the No. 13 pick.

Considered one of the top two defensive backs in the draft, Johnson has the potential to make an immediate impact for the Dolphins.

The 22-year-old recorded 12 tackles and two interceptions despite being limited to six games due to an injury with the Wolverines in 2024.

Stackpole claimed Johnson is still one of the best defensive players in this year's draft despite missing multiple games and can play at an "elite" level in the NFL.

If Johnson can replicate his dominant collegiate displays in the pros, he'll certainly be an entertaining watch — and a headache for opposing quarterbacks — complementing Jalen Ramsey for the Dolphins.

Miami has added several defensive players in free agency, including linebackers Willie Gay Jr. and K.J. Britt. With key defenders like Bradley Chubb, Chop Robinson, and Ramsey already on the roster, selecting Johnson — if he's still available — could help solidify the Dolphins as one of the top defenses in 2025.
