Dolphins’ Minkah Fitzpatrick exits MNF with troubling injury

With their playoff chances hanging on by a thread, the Miami Dolphins flew up to Pittsburgh to face off against the Steelers on Monday Night Football with more than just a Week 16 win on the line.

Taking on a Steelers team led by Aaron Rodgers coming off five losses over their last eight games, things got out of hand early on as Mike Tomlin’s squad just kept putting points on the board, a task made easier after Minkah Fitzpatrick suffered an ugly calf injury that caused both teams to surround him on the field as he was checked on by trainers.

Taking to social media to update fans on their star safety, the Dolphins informed fans that Fitzpatrick had suffered a calf injury and was questionable to return to the game.

“Injury Update | Minkah Fitzpatrick has a calf injury and is questionable to return,” the Dolphins shared.

One of the most decorated safeties to enter the NFL in the last decade, Fitzpatrick began his career in Miami only to be traded to Pittsburgh alongside a fourth and seventh round picks for a first round, a fifth round, and a sixth round in 2019. From there, Fitzpatrick remained a Pro Bowl-caliber safety before being traded back to Miami with a fifth-round pick for Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith, and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

Will Fitzpatrick return to the game? Only time will tell, but considering the reaction he received from his current and former teammates after his injury, one thing is clear: Fitzpatrick is an incredibly popular player who impacts the game more than just on the field.
