Dolphins Re-Sign Cameron Goode

The Miami Dolphins have officially re-signed linebacker Cameron Goode. The 224th overall selection from the 2022 NFL Draft, Goode has been able to carve out a role for himself in multiple defenses for the Dolphins. He will be entering his age 28 season.

Coming out of the University of California, Berkeley, Goode was an undersized but versatile strong-side linebacker. He recorded 21.5 sacks in 5 years at the collegiate level, a pretty impressive feat. Goode was also solid in coverage, recording 2 interceptions and 10 pass breakups over his tenure at California.

After an official top 30 visit with the Dolphins, he was taken in round 7 of the 2022 NFL Draft. He did not play in 2022, but played in 17 games during the 2023 season before tearing his ACL in the season finale against Buffalo.

A tough road ahead did not stop him, as he was able to return to action towards the end of the 2024 season. In 2025, he finally started his 1st ever game. Goode also played his most defensive snaps last season, recording a career high 22 total tackles (14 being on special teams).

His main role on the team has always been as a special teamer. Goode covers punts and kickoffs at an elite level.

This is the second player to officially be retained by the Dolphins; Ethan Bonner, being tendered, was the first. Goode’s impact on special teams was clearly a priority for the new staff to keep as a constant with the team. His contract is also likely to be the veteran minimum, currently around $ 1.25 million for the year.

There is nothing bad about this re-signing. Goode has a positive personality and is an impactful special-teams player. He has also recorded 6 pressures on the quarterback as a Dolphin in 3 years. He will still have to compete for a spot in training camp and the pre-season, but has already carved out a role on special teams.

Even if released, there will be no negative cap implications for the Miami Dolphins.
