Dolphins Release First Official Depth Chart of the Season
It’s week one of the NFL Season, and the Miami Dolphins have released their first official depth chart of the year.
And there are a few surprises on it.
At safety, Ashtyn Davis is listed as the first-string safety opposite Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Davis has been out for weeks with an injury, but he was seen out of a walking boot last week, signaling his return may be near, and it appears that when he is ready to go, he will be a starter.
The two starting cornerbacks listed were Storm Duck and Jack Jones.
The Dolphins did not list a starting nickel cornerback on the depth chart.
Jason Marshall Jr. was a third-string corner, and newly added cornerback Rasul Douglas was second string, behind Jones.
Darren Waller, who we haven’t seen much of anything from, is listed as the starting tight end.
At linebacker, Tyrel Dodson held off Willie Gay and K.J. Britt, and is a starting linebacker to open the season.
Jaylen Wright is still the backup running back, and Ollie Gordon is listed as the third-string running back.
In a move that is no surprise, Zach Wilson was listed as the backup quarterback to start the year.
Rookie Kenneth Grant is also not listed as a starter and is second string behind Zach Sieler as well.
Kendall Lamm is listed as the backup left tackle, with Larry Borom listed as the backup right tackle.
The Dolphins open the season on Sunday at 1 pm in Indianapolis vs the Colts. The Colts are a slight favorite in a game many people feel is a matchup between two evenly matched teams.
To me, this game will come down to whether the Dolphins’ defense can stop the Colts’ offense. Not that Indy’s offense is great, but there are so many questions surrounding Miami’s secondary that concern exists it may be so poor that it will make even average to below-average quarterbacks look good.
The Dolphins offense should have success vs an equally poor Indy secondary.
