Dolphins Release James Daniels

Per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Miami Dolphins released James Daniels today.

Daniels was Miami’s biggest free agent signing last year, and played all of 3 snaps before being injured with a pectoral injury and never returning to the field in 2025.

The Dolphins will eat $4.8 million in dead money with this move.

This opens up a huge hole at the right guard position for the Dolphins. Miami could move Jonah Savaiinaea to the right side of the line to fill that, as he played on the right side of the line in college. Or they may look to find a new right guard this offseason.

The Miami Dolphins signed guard James Daniels to a 3 year $24 million deal. With only $10.735 million guaranteed.

Daniels is a former-round pick out of Iowa by the Chicago Bears. HEesigned with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022.

Daniels has played in 90 games, starting 84. In 2024, he only played in 4 games as he tore his Achilles tendon in week 4 of the season.
