Eagles-49ers Weather Forecast: What Conditions to Expect

One of the most anticipated playoff games of NFL wild card weekend comes in the NFC on Sunday. As NFC East division champions, the 3-seed Philadelphia Eagles earned the right to host the 6-seed San Francisco 49ers, a wild card team out of the NFC West. The game kicks off from Lincoln Financial Field at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, and will be televised nationally on FOX.

With the game taking place outdoors in Philadelphia, the weather forecast will be an important factor for the two NFL heavyweights who both feature explosive running backs
— Saquon Barkley of the Eagles and Christian McCaffrey of the 49ers. Here is what to expect from the conditions for the wild card game.

Sunday's forecast is partly cloudy with a high temperature of 45 degrees and a low of 31 at night. After two days of rain on Friday and Saturday, there is just a 5 percent chance of precipitation on game day.

The biggest concern about the weather will be winds of 15 to 25 miles per hour, with "higher wind gusts possible," according to the Weather Channel. Blustery conditions could affect the passing game for quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Brock Purdy.

The 49ers would be more affected by an adjustment in that phase, as they average 33.8 passing attempts per game compared to the Eagles' 29.2. Given the strength of Barkley and McCaffrey, it is hard to imagine either coach would bat an eye at handing it off a few more times on Sunday.

Overall, the mild temperatures and relief from the recent rain make for a friendly forecast in the Northeastern winter. Unlike the Eagles' snowy 28-22 home win in last year's divisional round game against the Los Angeles Rams, this weekend's game should be relatively unchanged by the weather forecast.
