Eagles' Adoree' Jackson Makes Honest Admission About His Performance Against Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles’ 24-20 Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys turned out to be far tighter than expected. A series of Eagles setbacks played a role — Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jalen Carter’s early ejection, nine costly penalties totaling 110 yards and an injury to Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson. On top of that, cornerback Adoree’ Jackson had a rough start to his Eagles career.

Jackson, who has spent eight seasons in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans and the New York Giants, signed with the Eagles just prior to the season.

Jackson’s struggles against the Cowboys included giving up a 32-yard catch to All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, committing a costly pass interference in the end zone, allowing a 26-yard gain on a third down and missing a tackle across the middle.

After the game, Jackson reflected on his performance, admitting he didn't play up to his standards.

"I give myself a C," Jackson said. "There's room for improvement, things that I could correct and get better at for next week."

Still, Jackson believes that there are positives to take away from his performance, joking that "C's get degrees."

"I'm not gonna hang my head too high or too low," Jackson said. "They're always things that I can get better at."

How Did the Rest of the Eagles' Secondary Perform?

Overall, the rest of the secondary had a mixed night, with some highlights and some lowlights. Cornerback Quinyon Mitchell had a crucial fumble recovery in Philadelphia's red zone, and the defense limited Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott to only 188 yards passing.

This yardage number is a little deceptive, however, as the Eagles' secondary committed multiple pass interference penalties. Additionally, a couple of dropped passes by the Cowboys skewed the result. In particular, a late drop by Lamb on a deep pass could have changed the outcome of the game.
