After the tough report of Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Johnny Wilson being knocked out for the season with him getting knee and ankle surgery, the enviable was bound to happen with his status on the roster.

The Eagles officially announce that Wilson was place on the injured reserve list. They added that they have signed defensive end Jereme Robinson to fill in Wilson's spot.

Robinson is coming off stints with the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. He played in two snaps on special teams with the Patriots in their preseason win over the Minnesota Vikings last week. Robinson racked up 14 sacks in 53 games with the Kansas Jayhawks in college.

Eagles' tough break on injury and the impact of it with the roster

It's unfortunate to see Wilson out after having a great two-week stretch with the team. He had a tough first few weeks with drops to start training camp, but his three catches for 73 yards sparked much-needed momentum that carried him up to the injury.

At wide receiver, undrafted rookie Darius Cooper has been the star of camp and might have found his way onto the roster. Ainias Smith is another player who is more secure in his spot on the 53-man roster. However, everyone has been talking about the timing of Eagles general manager Howie Roseman trading for John Metchie III from the Houston Texans, as it now appears to be a genius move.

This may not be the best thing to say, but Robinson is seen more as a body to fill the 90-man roster. It's unclear if he will even be able to play in the preseason game against the Jets, but his chances at making the roster are pretty slim.

The Eagles hope this is the last roster move to make before they have to cut down to 53 players by Tuesday.
