Eagles’ Ceiling and Floor Entering 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles are on the hunt for their third Super Bowl victory in nine years. While Philadelphia has remained a consistent regular-season contender, its postseason success has fluctuated. With the season opener against the Washington Commanders less than a week away, let’s take a look at the ceiling and floor for the 2026 Eagles.

Ceiling: 14-3, Super Bowl Champions

In 2022 and 2024, the Eagles won 14 games en route to Super Bowl appearances. That same path remains wide open.

Offensively, the quickest route to dominance runs through the ground game. Philadelphia’s offensive line averaged just 1.2 yards before contact in 2025 (down from 2.0 in 2024). Much of the blame can be put on injuries, with the Eagles’ preferred starting offensive line only playing every offensive snap together in a game once.

A healthy and likely improved offensive line should lead to a bounce-back season for Saquon Barkley. While he likely won’t rush for 2,000 yards again, Barkley’s yards per carry should trend closer to the 5.8 mark he set in 2024 than the 4.1 average he posted in 2025.

A restored run game will unlock the passing attack. If Dontayvion Wicks carries his stellar preseason into the regular season as a secondary boundary target and rookie Makai Lemon hits the ground running, creating separation and finding space between the hash marks, Jalen Hurts could have a career year.

Floor: 10-7, Wild Card Loss

Despite facing the league’s eighth-toughest strength of schedule, the Eagles remain heavily favored to navigate an uninspiring NFC East. The Cowboys, the Commanders, and the Giants all finished below .500 and missed the postseason last year.

The primary floor-setter is Vic Fangio’s defense. After ranking 26th in total defense and 30th in scoring defense in 2023, the Eagles brought in Fangio. In his two seasons in Philadelphia, Fangio transformed the unit into a top-10 total defense. Last season, the Eagles held opponents to an NFL-low 56.8% completion rate. Under Nick Sirianni and Hurts, Philadelphia has won at least 11 games in four consecutive seasons.

While losing A.J. Brown is a significant blow, the transition to coordinator Sean Mannion should help modernize an offense that frequently stagnated in 2025. If the unit stumbles early while adapting to the new scheme, or if Hurts struggles to attack the middle of the field, the defense remains far too formidable for Philadelphia to miss the postseason entirely.
