The NFL Draft might have ended over a month ago, but that won't stop the mock drafts for 2026 from occurring and predicting the unpredictable: who the Philadelphia Eagles will select.
Over the last four years, the Eagles have consistently been one of the best teams in the NFL at identifying and developing great talent from the draft. They have selected top talent like DeVonta Smith, Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Cam Jurgens. That's just the short list of even more talent from there.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has also been a master at trading during the draft, as evidenced by his acquisitions of top talent, such as A.J. Brown and DeAndre Swift, through his moves. He's also traded up and down for top talent, such as Smith and Carter, but has also had talent fall into their hands.
It has gotten to the point where Roseman has struggled to find trades in the draft because teams are aware of how he operates. The media is starting to catch on as well, as they are working their mock drafts like they were Roseman.
CBS Sports writer Ryan Wilson shared his mock draft for next year, as he has the Eagles picking 32nd overall. Wilson predicts that Roseman will trade out of the first round with the New York Jets, allowing them to select a quarterback. Philadelphia takes the Jets' 37th overall pick and does the most predictable selection: taking Georgia defensive lineman Christen Miller.
"Can line up anywhere along the defensive line, plays with active hands and low pad level, and is disruptive vs. both run and pass."
Miller has slowly worked his way into the Bulldogs' starting lineup, with last year being his best. He finished with 27 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one pass deflection in 12 games.
This would be on par with what the Eagles like to do in the draft. Roseman has selected six players from Georgia since 2021 and four from Alabama since 2020.
The Eagles also are big fans of picking linemen as 10 defensive tackles or ends have been since since 2021 It's been a staple for Philadelphia dating back to the Andy Reid-era.
There is a ton of youth on the defensive line, so it remains to be seen if they would use a high pick on a defensive lineman, but Roseman making a smart trade to take advantage of a quarterback-needy team is a smart move.
