Eagles make trade for standout RB

The defending Super Bowl champions are not satisfied with their roster just yet.

The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired third-year running back Tank Bigsby in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to multiple reports. Adam Schefter of ESPN notes that the Jaguars will be getting a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick from the Eagles in exchange for the 24-year-old Bigsby.

A third-round draft pick himself back in 2023 (No. 88 overall), Bigsby had shown glimpses of his upside over his first couple of NFL seasons. During 2024 in particular, Bigsby managed to get himself into a timeshare with Jaguars starting running back Travis Etienne Jr. and produced 766 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns on the year.

But Bigsby lost ground to Etienne over the course of this offseason, and Etienne had an emphatic performance in Week 1, rushing for 143 yards on 16 carries in a 26-10 Jacksonville win over Carolina (as Bigsby managed just 12 yards on five carries). With rookies LeQuint Allen Jr. and Bhayshul Tuten also around to back up Etienne, the Jaguars have now decided to move on from Bigsby.

As for the Eagles, the addition of Bigsby should allow them to better manage the workload of workhorse running back Saquon Barkley. The speedy 5-foot-11 Bigsby will also reportedly be in the mix as a return man for Philly along with Will Shipley.

Meanwhile, the Eagles, who beat the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, have acquired an impressive haul of new pieces over just the last month alone. Bigsby joins Philly’s cast of recent fresh faces along with fellow trade acquisitions John Metchie III, Sam Howell, Fred Johnson, and Darian Kennard plus the former Pro Bowl defender whom they just signed in free agency.
