Eagles' most important training camp position battle has fans guessing on winner

One of the biggest mysteries for the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles is who will be the other cornerback lining up on the opposite side of Quinyon Mitchell in the secondary.

Bleacher Report writer Moe Moton called the CB2 job the most important remaining position going on at Eagles camp, with Kelee Ringo, Adoree' Jackson, and Jakorian Bennett all fighting for the job.

"The Philadelphia Eagles released Darius Slay, which opened up a spot on the boundary of the secondary opposite promising second-year cornerback Quinyon Mitchell.

Ringo and Jackson are the top contenders for the position, though the Eagles added Bennett via trade with the Las Vegas Raiders to spice up the competition.

Both Ringo and Jackson struggled in the Eagles' first preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals' first-team offense. In his 2023 rookie campaign, Ringo had some bright spots, but he allowed an alarming 137.5 passer rating in coverage last season. Jackson has been a decent No. 2 cornerback for most of his career.

Bennett may have too much ground to make up as a newcomer in this battle, but he could make an impact during the regular season if no one gains a firm grip on the job."

Who can overtake the Eagles' CB2 job at training camp?

Last week's 34-27 win for the Eagles over the Cincinnati Bengals in the preseason did not help clarify who is better between Jackson and Ringo. Both guys struggled against Bengals star receiver Ja'Marr Chase, with Ringo missing a tackle that allowed Chase to score from 36 yards out. Jackson wasn't much better in coverage, but at least he was solid with his open-field tackles.

Bennett did not play in the preseason, but his first action as an Eagle against another team on Wednesday was not as great as he would have liked it to be. He had a nice start against the Cleveland Browns in the Eagles' joint practice with them, but the rest of the workout was rough as Bennett struggled against the Browns' receivers.

This is one of those position battles that won't be decided until the last second. The three corners are not making it easy, as the Eagles need one of them to step up.
