The Atlanta Falcons are still making moves within the free agency market, re-signing their own talent.
The team announced that it had re-signed Kevin King, a second-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in the 2017 NFL Draft. King has played in 66 games throughout his NFL career, most of them with the Packers.
Last year, in his first season with Atlanta, King appeared in 15 games and started one of them, totaling 10 tackles and one fumble recovery. His snap count began to rise the further Atlanta got into the team's season. Most of his time was spent contributing to the special teams side of the ball.
King's best season was in 2019 when he accounted for 66 tackles and had 5 interceptions. He would miss the 2022 season due to personal reasons, and then tore his Achilles, which prevented him from returning to the field in 2023.
King will re-join a defensive back room that recently retained Dee Alford, Natrone Brooks, and Clark Phillips III while also adding Mike Ford and Keith Taylor in free agency.
Atlanta has its starters in A.J. Terrell and Mike Hughes, but the team is determined to have as much depth as possible with little capital room to work with when signing free agents.
King has plenty of game experience and is trusted by the Falcons staff to be present on the football field on any given play. Atlanta will more than likely look to draft a defensive back in this year's NFL Draft.
