Falcons veteran gives UGA rookie Jalon Walker literal sky-high praise

Falcons football is back, and among all of the exciting storylines, hometown rookie Jalon Walker is at the top of the list.

After years of neglecting the pass rush, Terry Fontenot finally invested heavily into the unit this offseason. Not only did Fontenot do the smart thing and draft Walker when he fell, but he doubled down by trading back into the first round for James Pearce Jr.

Right or wrong, the move for JPJ has come with plenty of criticism because of his attitude/motivation concerns, along with the compensation given up, but Walker is an entirely different story.

The UGA product has been heralded for intangibles as much as his tangible attributes. When you’re coached by Kirby Smart, that’s the standard. The kids that come out of Athens are obsessed with football; they’re not only the most physically talented, but they’re mentally equipped as well.

When you have that combination, there’s no telling what Jalon Walker can become in Atlanta. If you ask Kaden Elliss, the sky is the limit.

Jalon Walker might get knocked for his size, but he’s an absolute game wrecker that is the exception to the rule that edge rushers have to be a certain body type. If you can succeed at the most talented school in the most talented conference, I wouldn’t be worried about his game translating to the NFL.

The only thing that can hold Walker back is the Falcons. If Raheem Morris and Jeff Ulbrich don’t immediately put the rookie in a position to succeed, they’ll be doing themselves and Walker a disservice.

The kid is a killer. Let him hunt.
