Super Bowl Champion and former Raiders head coach Jon Gruden has found a new job in the sports media world. It was announced earlier today on social media that he has joined the Barstool Sports team.
The football world needs Gruden, maybe more than Gruden needs football. If you've ever heard him speak, you know that he lives and breathes ball. Now the NFL world is responding to the announcement on social media.
"I don’t think I had this one on my bingo card today," wrote a surprised fan.
"This could change the course of human history," said another.
"Barstool’s about to get even better with Gruden on board now," added one more.
Even Gruden himself chimed in on his new Barstool branded "X" account, "You ready to learn some football?? @barstoolsports"
While the exact details of what Gruden will be doing haven't been released, he will now have the backing of the Barstool machine. As a broadcaster calling Monday night football games, Gruden was a fan favorite, so his return to the media should be a hit.
The implications of the hire hasn't been lost on the founder of Barstool Dave Portnoy either.
“I think he’s gonna be an unbelievable hire for us,” said Portnoy on the Barstool "Unnamed Show."
While we wait to see what Gruden's role with Barstool will entail, it's safe to assume he's going to endure a media gauntlet on all the podcasts Barstool has. So your social media feed is going to have a lot of Gruden on it for the foreseeable future.
