Fans must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative test to attend Saints games

NFL teams such as the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles are requiring patrons to wear proper face coverings in indoor areas of their stadiums because of fears related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

Fans of the New Orleans Saints will have to go one step further to see their team in person this season.

According to a NOLA.com report, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is expected to declare that individuals will have to show proof of either a COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative virus test to enter New Orleans public places such as bars, restaurants, concert venues and the Caesars Superdome, home of the Saints. 

The New York Mets and New York Yankees required proof of full vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test to attend games early into the MLB season, and other entities opened vaccinated-only sections at indoor arenas. Meanwhile, the idea of so-called "vaccine passports" has been mentioned in NFL circles since before Super Bowl LV in February. 

As of now, there are no public plans for a league-wide mandate to require that fans be vaccinated or test negative for the virus to attend football games this fall.
