My favorite strategy in 2026 fantasy football is to create a balanced roster. It feels like the running back position really takes a steep dive this year in that RB2 range.
With that in mind, we’ll be running through a public 2026 ESPN mock draft with pick No. 4. This will be a 12-team, PPR league where we draft around Puka Nacua and Omarion Hampton.
With Nacua, he’s my WR1 in 2026 fantasy football, but you can include Ja’Marr Chase and Jaxon Smith-Njigba in this tier as well. As for Omarion Hampton, he’s my RB8 on the year in tier with Derrick Henry and Kenneth Walker.
Notably, Hampton ranks higher than Ashton Jeanty (RB11) for me given the Los Angeles Chargers situation compared to the Las Vegas Raiders. The main pushback would be this quote from Mike McDaniel:
Mike McDaniel says he will use the “hot hand” for the RB timeshare:

“Bad news, fantasy owners. Good news is I see all three of those guys producing at a very high level. Bad news is I can’t tell you which games those are.”

However, I’m not concerned with this. All this tells me is that Hampton will have to prove that he’s significantly better than the other running backs on the team in Keaton Mitchell and Kimani Vidal. That’s something he should easily be able to do.
Round 1: Puka Nacua, WR (LAR)
Round 2: Omarion Hampton, RB (LAC)
Round 3: Malik Nabers, WR (NYG)
Round 4: Tee Higgins, WR (CIN)
Round 5: D’Andre Swift, RB (CHI)
Round 6: Bhayshul Tuten, RB (JAC)
Round 7: Brian Thomas Jr., WR (JAC)
Round 8: Jonathon Brooks, RB (CAR)
Round 9: Stefon Diggs, WR (WSH)
Round 10: Kyler Murray, QB (MIN)
Round 11: KC Concepcion, WR (CLE)
Round 12: Jordyn Tyson, WR (NO)
Round 13: Chig Okonkwo, TE (WSH)
Round 14: Oronde Gadsden, TE (LAC)
Round 15: Ka’imi Fairbairn, K (HOU)
Round 16: Chargers D/ST (LAC)
My initial thoughts after running the mock draft were that this went a little differently than expected. I’m not a huge fan of having to take D’Andre Swift as my RB2, but it made sense to wait for him in round five rather than reach on a running back in round four.
Overall, I’m not sold on Bhayshul Tuten and Jonathon Brooks as much as others, but they fell into my lap during this mock draft. With a bit more hype leading up to Week 1, my plan would be to package those players for an upgrade at tight end or another bench wide receiver.
This fantasy football mock draft didn’t end up as my favorite, but starting with Puka Nacua and Omarion Hampton allowed me to stay flexible throughout the entire draft.
