Ford to introduce new Bronco on O.J. Simpson's birthday

Either somebody at Ford Motor Co. has a unique sense of humor, or we're about to encounter one of the strangest coincidences of 2020.

Over the weekend, Ford tweeted that it will debut the new Bronco SUV on July 9.

July 9 also happens to be the 73rd birthday of Hall of Fame running back OJ Simpson.

Simpson famously eluded police while in a Bronco driven by former football player and friend Al Cowlings in June 1994 after the man affectionately known as "Juice" was accused of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson, his estranged wife, and Ron Goldman. A jury subsequently acquitted Simpson of the crimes, but he was later found liable for their deaths.

As Phoebe Wall Howard of the Detroit Free Press wrote, Ford North America product communications manager Mike Levine claims this is all one big coincidence and that the Bronco reveal remains set for July 9 as of June 15.

The Bronco became synonymous with Simpson following the low-speed chase that aired on national television before the former ball-carrier turned broadcaster was taken into police custody. Per Fox News, an estimated 95 million people watched Simpson's Bronco ride.
