Former Alabama safety Eddie Jackson shares cryptic message on his future with Chicago Bears

Could the Chicago Bears be losing a defensive leader to a new NFL team?

Eddie Jackson has been a stable presence in the Bears’ defensive backfield since 2017.

The South Florida native was selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft from the University of Alabama. Jackson, a two-time Pro Bowl selection in 2018 and 2019, made first-team NFL Al-Pro in 2018. He is also on the 100 Greatest Bears of All-Time list. The 30-year-old has recorded 459 total tackles, 10 forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, 15 interceptions, 44 pass breakups, and three defensive touchdowns in 100 career games.

Jackson set a career-high for interceptions in 2018 (six) and a career-high for breakups (15) in 2018 as well.

He shared a cryptic message to his followers on Thursday via social media called, “New Beginnings.”

Bears’ fans feel this is a message of Jackson leaving the franchise. He has been one of the best safeties in the National Football League, and he probably wants to go to a Super Bowl contender.

Jackson came to the Crimson Tide in its 2013 recruiting class from Boyd Anderson High School. He became a first-team All-SEC selection in 2015 with six interceptions, helping the defense capture a Southeastern Conference Championship and a College Football Playoff National Championship.

Jackson collected three SEC Championships (2014-16) with the Tide.
