The Carolina Panthers got Bryce Young help on offense and it lands a massive defensive veteran.

A’Shawn Robinson, 28, joins the Panthers after three seasons (2020-22) with the Los Angeles Rams.

The former University of Alabama defensive lineman won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2021. He had a career-high 67 tackles with two sacks, two forced fumbles, and 8.5 tackles for loss. Robinson was a second-round pick of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He spent four years (2016-19) in Detroit, three with the Rams, and played for the New York Giants last season.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported the news on Tuesday of Robinson signing a three-year, $22.5 million deal for Carolina.

The 6-foot-3, 320-pounder had 62 total tackles for the Giants, including 12.5 for loss and two pass breakups.

Robinson came to the Crimson Tide as a five-star in its 2013 signing class from Fort Worth, Texas. He was on two Southeastern Conference Championship teams (2014, 2015) and a College Football Playoff National Championship squad in 2015.

Robinson earned first-team All-SEC honors and Consensus All-American honors in 2015.

He had 46 tackles that season, including 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Robinson shared a team-high 10 quarterback hurries and had two breakups and a blocked field goal. He is now in the NFC South to help the Panthers generate an effective defense.
