Former Chiefs players flock to Kansas City to attend private Super Bowl LVIII ring ceremony
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Chiefs players  are celebrating their Super Bowl LVIII victory one last time on Thursday night with a private ring ceremony amongst players, coaches, staff, and their family members.

That doesn't just include players who are part of the 2024 roster for the Chiefs either. Several members of the team who have since left to join different organizations or remain unsigned without a new team are back in Kansas City for the exclusive event.

Several former Chiefs players were spotted on the red carpet ahead of the ring ceremony. That group includes WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling ( Buffalo Bills), OG Nick Allegretti ( Washington Commanders), P Tommy Townsend (Houston Texans), and TE Izaiah Gathings (Pittsburgh Steelers).

What it means for the Super Bowl LVIII champions to be back together again

Trey Smith eloquently told KSHB-TV reporter Aaron Ladd that seeing former teammates return to celebrate the Super Bowl win is the best part of these types of celebrations.

"A great example is Nick Allegretti," Smith said. "He'll be here tonight. Just talking to him, just excited to see him, excited to see guys who aren't with us currently. But being able to share the moment of what we accomplished last year as a team unit, the goal we accomplished, is special."

Former Chiefs P Tommy Townsend echoed Smith's excitement to relish the Super Bowl victory one last time with those who helped him earn his second Super Bowl ring.

"My experience in Kansas City has been amazing," Townsend told Ladd. "What better way to go out than getting my second ring? Excited for tonight, to see everybody and have one last go-round with everyone."

Willie Gay Jr. (Saints) and Donovan Smith (free agent) don't appear to be among those who made the trip back to Kansas City. Rest assured they'll get their Super Bowl LVIII rings in due time.
