Demarcus Robinson was already in trouble before the San Francisco 49ers signed him in free agency this offseason. Now, the veteran wide receiver is doing everything he can to avoid punishment from the league for it.
Robinson, a former wideout for the Kansas City Chiefs, pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge that stemmed from an arrest last November while he was a member of the Los Angeles Rams organization.
This week, ESPN learned that Robinson was sentenced to three years of probation and fined $390. He was also ordered to complete a 90-day alcohol education program. Robinson's attorney explained to ESPN that the receiver has completed most of the court-mandated instructions already and is on track to have his case expunged.
The National Football League has yet to levy any sort of suspension or punishment on Robinson, but the hope is undoubtedly that Robinson's cooperation and efforts will convince the powers-that-be to go easy on him.
Robinson signed a two-year, $9.5 million deal earlier this offseason with the Niners following a career-best year in L.A. He posted career highs in receptions (31), receiving yards (505), and touchdowns (7), in 2024 after shorter stints with the Raiders and Ravens.
Originally drafted by the Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Robinson grew into a reliable member of the receiver room over his six years in Kansas City. He appeared in 97 games for the Chiefs and put up 145 catches for 1,679 yards and 14 touchdowns.
