Atlanta will host Super Bowl LXII in 2028, and Warrick Dunn knows that it is a big opportunity for the city to show why it’s great at hosting major sporting events. On3 recently spoke to the former Atlanta Falcons running back and current team minority owner who teased Atlanta’s plans for the upcoming Super Bowl.

“It’s something that is going to definitely pick up the next couple of years, but you’ve got to start planning now,” Dunn told On3. “A big event like that, you can’t wait the year before, six months. That has to start planning and putting things in place with the ideas, and what it looks like, and how do we make Atlanta the greatest city definitely for that week, to engage fans and having access. With the traffic and everything else in Atlanta, how do we help people get around so they can see Atlanta, experience Atlanta? This helps the city thrive.

“This is a financial opportunity for the city to thrive, because now, people are going to be here spending money, and that should benefit the city. It’s a win-win overall for the Falcons, having a Super Bowl in the stadium, but also for the fans, because now, they’re going to rep their city, and welcome people here.”

Warrick Dunn wants to see the Falcons win the Super Bowl in Atlanta

Atlanta is no stranger to hosting the Super Bowl. The first time it was in the city was in 1994 (Super Bowl XXVIII), and the Dallas Cowboys took down the Buffalo Bills 30-13. The Super Bowl returned to Atlanta in 2000 (XXXIV), and the St. Louis Rams defeated the Tennesee Titans 23-16. The third time happened in 2018 (LIII), and the New England Patriots got past the Los Angeles Rams 13-3, the lowest-scoring Super Bowl in NFL history.

Dunn would love to see the Falcons play in the 2028 Super Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and win the big game. But the former Florida State star wants to see the team win sooner since they have yet to win it all. The Falcons have played in two Super Bowls in their history, losing to John Elway and the Denver Broncos in the 1999 game (XXXIII) and Tom Brady and the Patriots in 2017 (LI).
