Former Jim Harbaugh Assistant Files Lawsuit Against Michigan

One of Jim Harbaugh's former assistant coaches has filed a lawsuit against the University of Michigan.

Back in November 2023, Michigan fired linebackers coach Chris Partridge amid a massive sign-stealing scandal. By August of 2025, however, he was cleared of wrongdoing in the NCAA's infractions report.

"I am extremely grateful for the thorough investigation done by the NCAA Infractions Committee. For almost two years, I sat silently while many members of the mainstream media told lies about me and why I was wrongfully terminated by the University of Michigan," Partridge said. "It means so much to me and my family to finally have my name cleared and reputation restored. My faith in the process never wavered, and through it all, I stayed true to who I am as a person and mentor. I remained steadfast in my passion for being part of a team and being lockstep with my fellow coaches to provide guidance to young men as they navigate the great sport of football."

On March 11, Angelique S. Chengelis of The Detroit News reported that Partridge is suing Michigan for wrongful termination. He filed the lawsuit this Wednesday, claiming he was "a scapegoat" during the 2023 season.

Concerning time for Michigan.

A few months ago, Michigan fired head coach Sherrone Moore for having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. He was then arrested and charged with third-degree home invasion.

Earlier this month, former Michigan assistant coach LaTroy Lewis was accused of raping a woman he met on a dating app. The woman’s attorney, Karen Truszkowski, said Moore was informed of this alleged incident that occurred on Dec. 5, 2024. Truszkowski claims Moore refused to report this incident and ultimately “weaponized” it against the woman.

“These allegations are deeply concerning. As we have noted, the University launched an investigation of the circumstances and conduct leading to Sherrone Moore’s firing, as well as a broader culture review of the Athletic Department,” Paul Corliss said in a statement shared with the Detroit Free Press. “We continue to urge anyone with relevant information to reach out to the law firm conducting the investigation at umconcerns@jenner.com. The work is ongoing, and we will be able to share more when it is completed.”

It's safe to say there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding Michigan's football program right now.
