Former Notre Dame great disapproves of his brother’s college decision during National Signing Day

Notre Dame football finalized the 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday, signing 24 talented recruits from across the country. That list did not include Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, who is the younger brother of former Irish star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Most would be surprised about Notre Dame “missing” on such a prominent legacy.

For those who aren’t aware, Notre Dame actually cooled on Owusu-Boateng for a variety of reasons, and some of them are pretty easy to figure out by doing a second of social media research. The IMG star is a tremendous talent, and is currently ranked as a five-star and the No. 28 player in the 2025 recruiting class according to Rivals. Most fans are sad to see that it didn’t work out between him and the Irish.

Notre Dame fans are probably even more disappointed to see that Owusu-Koramoah ended up with the Michigan Wolverines, a hated rival that most supporters can’t stand. It came down between Michigan and Colorado, but “that team up North” eventually won out. Needless to say, his older brother wasn’t thrilled with the decision either.

For months, Owusu-Boateng sat as one of the more popular 2025 recruits in Notre Dame fandom for those obvious reasons. Over the last few weeks, most knew that the pursuit had faded. It wasn’t a surprise that he didn’t end up with the Irish, but now fans have no choice but to root against the Maryland native when he gets up to Ann Arbor.

Owusu-Boateng began his high school career playing for DeMatha Catholic in the state of Maryland. He transferred down to IMG Academy prior to his junior year, and put together a really nice 2023 season. The talented linebacker did not play during his senior season, but is still considered a potentially elite recruit in the class, at least from a talent perspective.
