Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill caught some flak for his comments after the team's season-ending loss to the New York Jets last month. Hill said "I'm done, bro" among other negative comments indicating a desire to leave the franchise.
Hill has since walked those words back publicly. However, that didn't stop ESPN analyst and Super Bowl XLII champion Ryan Clark for calling Hill out for them. The Cheetah sat down with Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder during Super Bowl week, and the Dolphins' superstar and Clark hashed out the moment.
If you say it with your chest on TV you better be able to say it to the athlete’s face. @cheetah took issue with some of my criticism of him following his locker room comments after a loss to the @nyjets, & he let me know about it on the @EAMaddenNFL blue carpet!

"So, here's what I said about you," Clark said. "When you go into the locker room, and you say what you said, that's not leadership to me. And I'll say that to your face. I'm never going to say anything about y'all that I wouldn't say in front of y'all because I know I paint a certain picture. I'm pro player all the time, but in that situation, you're a leader, right? And people look at you not only for what you do in Miami, but for what you do overall. In my opinion, you're better than that."
"You're right," Hill responded.
"So, having calmed down, how do you see that situation now," Clark asked.
"I feel just like you said, you know what I'm saying," Hill said. "I feel exactly like you said. Like, no bad blood against anybody."
It seems, at least publicly, like Hill's frustrations about the end of the season have slowly calmed down, and his words have changed from wanting to leave to backing Tua Tagovailoa and his franchise over the last five weeks.
Certainly, that's something that's positive, but Clark's comments hit on a very important point: leadership. That's been something that's seemed to be lacking with the franchise, particularly in 2024. Hill is one of the very best players in the game, and while he doesn't have to be Tom Brady or Ray Lewis as far as inspiring players, he simply can't say things like he did if the chemistry is going to have any chance to be a good one in 2025.
It seems like he recognizes that. However, we'll see if his head can remain cool if the struggles continue again next season in South Florida.
