Could the supposed San Francisco 49ers injury jinx that has hampered them so much over the last two years finally be weakening?

Last season, the injury bug claimed pass rusher Nick Bosa, middle linebacker Fred Warner and tight end George Kittle, and this summer, wide receivers Mike Evans, Jacob Cowing, Christian Kirk and Ricky Pearsall, as well as fullback Kyle Juszczyk, suffered new injuries.

While Pearsall is out for the year and Kirk and Cowing are still recovering, Bosa, Kittle, Juszczyk and Evans all took a big step on Wednesday toward being ready for Week 1 versus the Los Angeles Rams in Australia.

The 49ers’ injury report on Wednesday was an improvement

According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports, Bosa, Kittle, Juszczyk and Evans all took part in the 49ers’ practice session on Wednesday.

Bosa tore his right ACL in Week 3 of last season and had been held out of practice for a good part of this summer due to lingering issues in his right knee. Kittle tore his Achilles in the team’s wild-card playoff game last season against the Philadelphia Eagles, and Evans had been dealing with a groin injury lately.

Juszczyk sustained a finger injury in early August, and he is expected to play in Week 1 against the Rams. He managed to survive the injury bug last year and play in all 17 games.

It is unknown whether Kittle and Evans will be playing versus L.A. on Sept. 10. But Bosa sent a clear message about his status for that contest.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s one practice,” Bosa told NBC Sports Bay Area on Wednesday before the 49ers were scheduled to fly to Melbourne, Australia. “But, yeah, I’m flying out there, I’m going to (expletive) play.”

On the other hand, starting cornerback Renardo Green did not practice on Wednesday. He suffered a hamstring injury versus the Los Angeles Chargers two weeks ago, and his status for Week 1 is up in the air. Jack Jones, whom the Niners signed in the offseason, could start in Green’s place if Green is unable to play.

The team was scheduled to board its flight to Australia on Wednesday night, which should give it plenty of time to adjust to the time difference. According to David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard, it will hold practices on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week before its matchup versus the Rams.
