Frustrated Christian Gonzalez reacts to 'trash' contract offer narrative

Week 1 is just around the corner, and Christian Gonzalez's situation with the New England Patriots remains unsolved.

The star cornerback has yet to sign a contract extension, and he's been vocal about his thoughts on this stand-off.

His trainer also went on the record to say the contract language was "trash," only adding more fuel to the fire.

That's why, when asked about the lack of progress, the former first-round pick didn't shy away, though he claimed he's still committed to the team ahead of the season opener.

Christian Gonzalez agrees with his trainer 

“I’m still frustrated,” Gonzalez said (h/t Karen Guregian). “Like I said a week ago, I got stuff to do. I’m focused on today, and this practice and doing what I gotta do.”

Gonzalez admitted that he stands by what his trainer said of the contract language, even if those words didn't come from him:

“He can speak his mind,” Gonzalez said. “He’s got his thoughts. I’ve got mine. But I back everything he says. He backs everything I say. That’s kind of our relationship. We talk every day. He’s going to say what he’s going to say.”

The Patriots can still have two years of control over Gonzalez, so it's not like they must get something done before Week 1.

That said, it looks like their relationship takes a big hit with every day that goes by without an agreement.

He's unlikely to hold out for a new deal, but even though the team doesn't have to comply, perhaps a trade request won't be out of the question if this is the way he and his camp feel.
