George Pickens was never going to stick to No. 13, and we finally know what jersey number he will wear with Dallas Cowboys

New Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens has a new jersey number, the team teased on social media on Tuesday.

During his initial weeks on the team, Pickens was wearing No. 13 but told the media nothing was final yet, suggesting he had his eyes set on a different number. No. 14, his number with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is worn by safety Markquese Bell.

However, Pickens is rocking the No. 3, which previously belonged to Brandin Cooks and was expected to be worn by DE Dante Fowler Jr. this season. Though no official announcement has been made, the Cowboys posted a picture of Pickens from practice rocking the new number and with the caption "PICK3NS."

An official announcement is likely to follow.

The expectations are high for Pickens, who is described by his new teammate CeeDee Lamb as a "co-one." Both are building a strong bond in Pickens' first few weeks on the team, even doing pushups side by side when one of them makes a drop in practice.

As a veteran with a $136 million contract, Lamb is seemingly taking Pickens under his wings to ensure the Cowboys get the best from the young playmaker. The latter had behavior-related problems in his first three years in the NFL, including emotional outbursts on gameday, multiple fines, and even tardiness to team meetings when he was with the Steelers.

If he's able to overcome that side of things, Pickens has all the tools necessary to succeed as the Cowboys WR2. Dak Prescott excels in throwing deep go routes and Pickens is a contested catch monster that can consistently win one on one.

Don't let the number fool you. It will once again be No. 88 and No. 3 lining up at wide receiver, but Pickens is a major upgrade compared to Cooks. The Cowboys could have one of the best WR duos in the NFL.
