No matter what one's feelings are regarding Donald Trump, the objective truth is the current President of the United States knows how to stir things up.

His latest venture involves the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and Saquon Barkley. The Eagles made the NFL's annual visit to the White House for Super Bowl winners on Monday, where Trump claimed he tried to persuade the Giants to keep Barkley instead of letting him walk in free agency.

"Saquon had a season for the ages, running behind the most powerful offensive line in the NFL," Trump said at the ceremony. "... By the way, I have to tell you something: I was with the Giants, and the head coach, and some people and I said, 'Do anything you have to, but don't lose Saquon.'

"They lost Saquon [and] that was not good. I called that one. It was an easy one to call because he played damn well for the Giants - I can tell you that. But he made the right decision because it is a team sport and there's great people on this team."

Not long after Trump's claim, Giants senior vice president of communications Pat Hanlon shot it down on X/Twitter. He later confirmed to Front Office Sports that zero conversations regarding Barkley's future with New York ever took place.

Whether he was being serious or having fun in the moment is unclear and regardless of who told the Giants what about Barkley before his departure, it's clear New York is going to hear about it for a very long time.
