Giants legend makes bold Daniel Jones prediction

New York Giants legend Tiki Barber clearly believes the club should go all-in on Daniel Jones this offseason. 

As shared by Ryan Chichester by Audacy, Barber confidently declared during Friday's edition of the WFAN "Tiki And Tierney" radio show that Jones will soon be the NFC East's best overall quarterback. 

"I know that (Philadelphia Eagles starter) Jalen Hurts is a stud. I know that he's amazing, got all these accolades, but he's also got a lot around him," Barber explained. Barber also mentioned how first-year Giants head coach Brian Daboll helped Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen improve when Daboll served as Buffalo's offensive coordinator. 

"His rookie season, he pretty much sucked: 52% completion percentage, 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions," Barber said of Allen. "But you know, Brian Daboll was just like, 'You know what, just run the ball a little bit, go out there and use your athleticism.'" 

Allen is now an annual Most Valuable Player candidate. Barber sounds convinced Jones can follow in Allen's footsteps under Daboll and current Big Blue offensive coordinator Mike Kafka assuming Kafka doesn't become a head coach elsewhere this winter.

"He's 6-foot-5, he's big, doesn't have to move out of the pocket to see crossing routes and throws and digs over the middle," Barber added about Jones. "He can stand right where he needs to stand and deliver every single throw. And if he needs to run, he'll go run. He had 700 yards and seven touchdowns this year."

Jones unquestionably produced a breakout season in less than one full year working with Daboll and deserves plenty of credit for helping an overachieving Giants roster earn a playoff berth and a postseason victory. However, the 25-year-old is set to hit free agency when the new league year opens in March. 

For a piece published Wednesday, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post heavily indicated Giants general manager Joe Schoen won't let Jones hit the open market and will use the franchise tag to retain the signal-callers rights, if necessary. That hasn't stopped some from predicting Jones could end up with a quarterback-needy club such as the Carolina Panthers this spring.
