Giants star delivers 167 yards, two touchdowns in Week 2 loss to Cowboys

DALLAS (Sept. 14, 2025) — Malik Nabers isn’t just a rising talent. He’s already a star — and on Sunday, he played like the NFL’s best wide receiver.

The New York Giants’ second-year standout caught nine passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns in a 40-37 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He averaged 18.6 yards per reception and produced six first downs, including a 48-yard score in the final seconds of regulation that briefly gave New York the lead.

Nabers scored his first touchdown on a 29-yard pass from Russell Wilson in the first half, beating single coverage down the sideline. From there, Dallas adjusted its coverage, pressing him at the line and rolling a safety his way on deep routes. He still broke free for key gains, finding space in zones and shaking loose on intermediate routes.

Late in the fourth quarter, Nabers slipped past a corner and safety for a 48-yard touchdown with 25 seconds left. The play gave the Giants a 37-34 lead before the Cowboys forced overtime with a 64-yard field goal and won on another kick.

Wilson threw for 450 yards, with Nabers responsible for more than a third of the production. At 22, Nabers already shows the polish of a veteran — speed to stretch defenses, strength through contact and precise route running that makes him difficult to cover.

Through two weeks, Nabers leads the NFL in receiving yards with 14 catches for 238 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 17.0 yards per reception.

The Giants were undone by 14 penalties and Wilson’s overtime interception, but Nabers’ impact was clear. He dictated how the Cowboys defended, forced coverage adjustments and remained the most dangerous player on the field.

The league’s best-receiver debate has long featured Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill and Ja’Marr Chase. Nabers is now firmly in that discussion.

The Giants left Dallas with another loss. Nabers left looking like one of the league’s best — and maybe already its very best wide receiver.
