Giants QB Jaxson Dart Overtakes Patrick Mahomes in Unexpected NFL Rankings

Jaxson Dart had a week to remember. The rookie quarterback was officially named the starter for the New York Giants, replacing veteran Russell Wilson, and wasted no time making an impact. In his NFL debut, Dart threw for 111 yards and one touchdown, while completing 65 percent of his passes. His performance helped the Giants to their first win of the season, a 21-18 victory over the previously undefeated Los Angeles Chargers.

Jaxson gave New York a much-needed spark on offense and set the stage for what could be a new era under center. As Dart now prepares for his second start on the road against the New Orleans Saints, he received more big news off the field.

According to Fanatics, Dart currently has the league’s top-selling jersey following his breakout debut (h/t Giants beat writer Pat Leonard). His No. 6 jersey outsold those of established stars like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts, marking an unprecedented rise for a player who only took his first professional snaps on Sunday.

Dart’s jersey recorded its biggest single-day sales spike immediately after the Giants’ win over the Chargers, eclipsing any previous mark since he was drafted by New York with the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The surge is proof that fans in New York and across the league are quickly embracing the 22-year-old and expectations will be high for what next he has to offer on the field.

The Giants drafted Dart in hope that he would eventually take over as the face of the franchise, but Wilson’s struggles accelerated that timeline. After showing poise and productivity in his debut, Dart is already proving why the team invested in him. With his jersey sales leading the NFL and his on-field performance making headlines, he will look to carry the momentum into Week 5 against the Saints as New York aims to build on its first win of the season.
