Russell Wilson and the New York Giants endured a rough 2025 NFL season, finishing 4-13 and at the bottom of the NFC East standings. While the Giants closed the year on a two-game winning streak against the Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys, the late surge cost them the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, leaving them with the No. 5 selection.
Wilson began the season as New York's starting quarterback but failed to secure a victory through three games before he was replaced by rookie Jaxson Dart. In 2025, the former Seattle Seahawks star completed 69-of-119 passes for 831 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
Now set to enter the offseason as a free agent with his one-year, $10.5 million contract expiring, Wilson’s NFL future remains uncertain. Even so, he has continued to focus on matters beyond football, including the health of an NFL legend.
Randy Moss became one of the greatest wide receivers the NFL has ever seen during his 14-year career, becoming a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2018. After his playing career, Moss stayed close to football, becoming a studio analyst for ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" and "Monday Night Countdown."
However, in December 2024, Moss announced a leave of absence from ESPN while battling bile duct cancer and later underwent a Whipple procedure. Since then, he has returned to ESPN after becoming a "cancer survivor." And on Dec. 27, 2025, the former 49ers and Patriots star celebrated the one-year anniversary of his surgery.
"Been gone for a whole year off gram," Moss wrote on Instagram. "This is the only pic tht i saved. 1year to this day since my big surgery! TO ALL MY DOCTORS &PRAYER WARRIORS……THANK U#blessedman"
And on Thursday, Wilson took notice of Moss' post, sending an important reminder on his Instagram Story.
“We never know when it could be us,” Wilson commented. "@randygmoss Keep Fighting."

While Wilson struggled during his limited time with New York, the quarterback does not appear to be considering retirement and remains prepared to show what he is capable of with his next team.
"Yeah, I'm not blinking," Wilson said after the 2025 season. "I know what I'm capable of. I think I showed that in Dallas. I want to do that again and just be ready to rock and roll and be as healthy as possible and be able to play ball."
