Gisele Bündchen admits 'concerns' over Buccaneers' Tom Brady playing another season

Shortly after Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady returned from an 11-day break he took away from the club last month during the preseason for unexplained "personal reasons," multiple stories emerged claiming that Gisele Bündchen, his wife, is displeased he elected to end his winter retirement and play at least one more NFL season with the Buccaneers.

During a conversation with Chantal Fernandez of Elle magazine that took place weeks before the Brady-Bündchen reports surfaced, Bündchen admitted to being worried about the 45-year-old's physical wellbeing.

"Obviously, I have my concerns—this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present," Bündchen said. "I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too."

After the interview, Elle reached out to Bündchen to ask about the previously mentioned reports. She declined to comment.

"I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom]. I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams," she added during the interview. "Seeing my children succeed and become the beautiful little humans that they are, seeing him succeed, and being fulfilled in his career—it makes me happy. At this point in my life, I feel like I’ve done a good job on that."

Several insiders, including Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, reported before Tampa Bay's season-opening win at the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night that it is "expected" Brady will retire after the 2022 campaign, presumably to become Fox Sports' lead NFL analyst on a deal reportedly worth $375 million over 10 years.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion has not yet confirmed such a decision. He completed 18-of-27 passes for 212 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the 19-3 victory at Dallas and is now preparing to play at the 1-0 New Orleans Saints this coming Sunday.
