The Green Bay Packers have been preparing for their third and final preseason game ahead of the 2025 NFL regular season this week. As teams tend to do, they held joint practices with their opponent for this upcoming weekend, the Seattle Seahawks.
Many of these joint practices are conducted without incident, but Thursday’s practice that saw the Packers and Seahawks competing against each other erupt in multiple brawls involving several players. Zach Tom, the usually quiet right tackle, was in the midst of the skirmish, throwing punches and haymakers at helmeted Seattle players. Tucker Kraft and Lukas Van Ness, too, were involved in the fighting.
Head coach Matt LaFleur, as one might expect, was livid that his players were involved in fights, as he preaches discipline and professionalism. However, it sounds like his Packers players were not the ones who started the fights, according to three-time Pro Bowler Kenny Clark.
Clark was not one of the Green Bay players involved in throwing punches, but he was among those who were trying to break it up.
After practice, Clark took a few minutes to talk with NFL analyst Kay Adams, who was present at training camp on Thursday, to talk about the scuffle:
Sounds like the Seahawks started it?

“I was in couple of them today. That’s football, though,” Clark said. “I love the scuffles and going against a very competitive team, a great team, in the Seahawks. We knew it was going to be a battle today. We played a great game against them up there last year and made plays, so we knew their coaches had them fired up, they was going to come out with some physicality, and we had to match it.”
Adams then asked him what exactly happened out on the field that led to the fights. “Just like you said, a lot of crossing the line,” Clark said. “Guys just being physical. You got two teams that’s fighting for something, you’re gonna get a lot of fights. It was a lot of competitors out there and, yeah, it was a good one.”
Clark was also asked why Kraft and Tom seemed to willing to fight. In response, Clark said, “That’s Tuck, that’s Tuck. He’s all about that contact, so it didn’t surprise me.
“[But Tom, that was surprising. Zach, you know, he got that money, and man. He is so chill, so me hearing that he was out there fighting, I was like, ‘Oh d–n that’s crazy.'”
LaFleur benched several players after their roles in the fights, including Tom.
Needless to say, the preseason game on Saturday could be a little bit more chippy than most exhibition contests.
