The Green Bay Packers are a few short minutes away from taking on the Detroit Lions in their first game of the 2025 NFL regular season. For the first time in the Matt LaFleur era, the Packers will begin their regular season slate of games at home at Lambeau Field. This, of course, will be fans’ first chance to see some of the newest players on the roster for the first time in a meaningful game.
Obviously, the player that most fans are most excited to see is the recently acquired Micah Parsons, who came over in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys less than two weeks ago. Due to his short amount of time with the team, a back injury, and the fact that he did not participate in training camp, he will play a limited amount of snaps against the Lions.
But he will play, as will wide receiver Jayden Reed who is dealing with a Jones fracture. Others, however, are not going to play for one reason or another.
Moments ago, the Packers announced that six players on their 53-man roster will not be active for today’s contest against the Lions:

Of these players, cornerback Nate Hobbs is the most significant name as he was signed and projected to be one of Green Bay’s starting cornerbacks.
However, a knee injury and procedure during training camp kept him out of practices and preseason games, leaving his status for this week up in the air. Obviously, he is not going to play.
That being said, the Packers did not have him start the season on an injured list, and he did return to practice this past week. It is likely they are just giving him an extra week to get up to speed.
Rookie cornerback Micah Robinson was elevated from the practice squad on Saturday, which led many to believe this was going to be the outcome for Hobbs anyway.
